Students will share various aspects of their school student council through informal discussion & pictures or other artifacts.
II. OBJECTIVES
Students will compare student councils as well as a little of their unique school culture.
III. MATERIALS
Optional: Artifacts such as pictures, video, posters, or objects which exemplify some aspect of their student council.
IV.
VIDEO CONFERENCE FORMAT Technical personnel
should establish a successful connection through a test call a few days before
the conference & then connect at least 10 minutes before the students
arrive. Audio can be muted until both sides are ready to begin.
A. Tell the school name & grade level. Follow with introductions of teachers from both sides.V. EVALUATION After the video conference is disconnected or during your next scheduled meeting ask all students to reflect critically on positive aspects of their student council which were affirmed by the remote side as well as changes they would like to make in the future.B. Informally students will introduce themselves & mention something about themselves that's rather unique such as their career goal, a special hobby, or other interesting fact.
C. Sample topics to be shared by the students in any order & through a mutually agreeable format. Examples may be shown on a document camera for easy viewing. Consider assigning a different topic or sections of that topic to different students to ensure adequate preparation. Hopefully students will not need to read their information; talking about the topic will be more interesting. The conference should focus on students talking, sharing, asking, and answering questions instead of the teachers. Consider assigning one strong student leader to facilitate. If this isn't possible then of course the teachers should facilitate.
